IRGC Warns of 'Different' Weapons if War with US, Israel Resumes
IRGC spokesman Sardar Mohebbi pointed to Iran's grip over the Strait of Hormuz as proof of the military's growing capabilities, dismissing Washington's efforts to dislodge Tehran's control of the critical waterway.
"The best reason for this issue is that despite the use of its vast capacity on land, sea and air, America could not remove the Strait of Hormuz from Iran's control even for a few minutes," Mohebbi said in a statement carried by a semi-official news agency.
Mohebbi further asserted that Iran stands prepared for every contingency, declaring that the US had fallen short of its strategic objectives during the most recent phase of the conflict.
He said Tehran is ready for "all possible scenarios," adding that Washington "failed to achieve its goals" in the Strait of Hormuz during the latest round of the conflict.
Tensions across the Middle East have surged since the US and Israel launched coordinated strikes against Iran in February, prompting Tehran to retaliate with attacks on Israel and American allies in the Gulf, while simultaneously shutting down the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire brokered through Pakistani mediation came into force on April 8, but subsequent negotiations held in Islamabad collapsed without yielding a durable settlement. Diplomatic efforts, however, remain ongoing.
