Trump Issues Warning to Iran: 'No More Mr. Nice Guy'

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump issued a sharp public warning to Iran on Wednesday, demanding Tehran finalize a nuclear agreement or face consequences — punctuating the threat with an incendiary social media post that left little room for diplomatic ambiguity.

"Iran can't get their act together. They don't know how to sign a nonnuclear deal. They better get smart soon," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, signing off with a blunt ultimatum: "No more Mr. nice guy!"

The post carried an unmistakable visual message — an image depicting the US president clad in a black suit and sunglasses, holding a firearm, against a backdrop of explosions over an Iranian landscape.

A Conflict Rooted in February's Joint Offensive
The escalating rhetoric follows months of volatile military and diplomatic brinkmanship. On Feb. 28, the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with strikes on what it described as American interests scattered across the region, predominantly in Gulf countries.

A ceasefire brokered through Pakistani mediation was announced on April 8, followed by talks convened in Islamabad on April 11–12. Those negotiations, however, collapsed without a breakthrough agreement.

Trump subsequently disclosed that the truce had been extended at Pakistan's request, pending a fresh proposal from Tehran.

Nuclear Standoff Hardens
The window for diplomacy appeared to narrow further on Monday, when Trump signaled he was unlikely to accept Iran's most recent offer. Tehran had proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz while deferring all questions surrounding its nuclear program to a later stage of negotiations — a sequencing Washington showed little appetite to accept.

With talks stalled, energy markets on edge, and the US president now deploying increasingly combative language, the path to a negotiated settlement appears narrower than at any point since the ceasefire took hold.
